Stop/Run is a project created by Ed Devane. Consisting of an ensemble of experimental, electroacoustic musical instruments, the project came into being when Devane was invited to create a sound art installation at Severed Head in Dublin. Designing and building the project over the course of two months, Devane invited 7 Dublin-based composers to create new compositions. The debut concert took place on 18th December 2010, and featured Amanda Feery, Brian Conniffe, Laura Hyland, Shane McKenna, Ian McDonnell and Eoin Smith.
The Stop/Run project continues thanks to the financial support of the Arts Council, which makes the tour possible. Shows in Galway, Cork and Belfast will take place from August 2011 and will feature local musicians and sound artists from a wide range of backrounds, from noise to Trad. Recordings will be made freely available through this page of all Stop/Run performances and offshoot /remix projects.
